Every single firm above is built around large-scale, high-budget, often commercial work – hotels, healthcare campuses, corporate headquarters. If you’re a homeowner planning a kitchen remodel or a living room refresh, calling Gensler is like hiring a construction firm that builds skyscrapers to fix your fence. Not that they wouldn’t do great work, but you’d be paying for a scale of operation you don’t actually need.
For residential projects, two other categories are generally better options: local, boutique residential design studios that focus on homes, not commercial builds; or online/virtual interior design platforms like Decorilla or Havenly that offer package-based pricing and 3D renderings without the overhead of a full-service commercial firm. Both routes tend to be dramatically less expensive and far better suited to a single-home project schedule.
